Handicap

What is a Golf Handicap?
The golf handicap is a guide to the standard of your golf game and allows golfers of different playing abilities to play against each other on somewhat equal terms.

Each golf course is given a SSS (Standard Scratch Score) for example a golf professional would be expected to play to Scrach giving them a 0 Handicap

Count all your shots taken over the 18 holes and subtract the course 'SSS' for women this is based on the red tees/score, this then gives you a very rough guide to your playing handicap on that course.

The maximum handicap given by golf clubs are 36 for women and 28 for men

A 36 handicap gives women 2 extra shots per hole where as a mans 28 handicap gives only 1 or 2 extra shots depending on the hole.

What is a official Golf Handicap?
In the UK The Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) retain the copyright of the Golf Handicap Scheme. There is only one way to get an ‘official’ golf handicap and that is to join a Golf Club affiliated to CONGU.

Stiletto Golf can provide its members with a golf society playing handicap
