Scoring
The score is the number of shots you take from each tee to hole added together over 18 holes.
Each hole has a listed score known as ‘Par’ either 3, 4 or 5 set according to its length and difficulty, Par is the number of shots a top-class golfer with a zero Handicap is expected to take for each hole. Over 18 holes this is usually between 68 and 75 shots.
The Score Card
Each course will have its own card format with the following
- ‘Yards’ for the length of each hole (ladies normally in red)
- 'Par' the number of shots needed to complete the hole
- 'Index' relates to the difficulty of each hole with 1 being the hardest and 18 the easiest.
