What to wear
A sensible dress code is required as a smart appearance is part of the golf tradition although it does vary from club to club and some are more strick than others so it is always best to read the local Etiquette and Dress Code. A Simple guidline that a club may use:
Smart dress is required on the course and round the clubhouse which means
On the course
- Polo/turtle necked tops
- All shirts/t-shirts must have collars - women are permitted for these to be sleeveless
- Tailored trousers full or ¾ length or shorts just above the knee or skorts
- Golf shoes only
- Woolly hats, caps or visors
- No jeans of any type or colour, combat trousers, tight leggings, short shorts/skirts
- No heavily slogan tops, t-shirts without collars or sun tops
In the clubhouse
- The above golf attire is allowed provided it is clean, dry and tidy
- Smart shoes in replace for golf shoes - no trainers
- Woolly hats, caps and visors to be removed
A change of clothing into non-golfing attire is normally worn for officeal events or prize giving.
Trainers may be allowed on Par 3 courses and within the practice areas however it is best to check at the local golf clubhouse
